Merry Christmas to All!!

As many of us are spending time with families, eating and drinking and opening presents, I just wanted to take a moment and wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas. Remember that Jesus is the reason for the season. May you celebrate His birth today, celebrate each other today and rejoice for the 2010 that is on its way. I declare blessings, prosperity, peace and joy over your life in 2010. May His plan, purpose and destiny for your lives be clear and may you walk boldly in it, in Jesus name. May you also have such a positive attitude that it is contagious and that you have the strength to overcome obstacles even if the odds are against you!

As you celebrate, please take a moment today and thank God for what you do have and pray for the homeless, the people who may not have anything to eat today, those who may not have family to celebrate with today, those in mental institutions, those in prisons, our military members serving here and abroad and everyone in our government. In some capacity this season, we can be a blessing through our prayers and thoughts.

Finally, may your 2010 be filled with Deuteronomy 28 blessings as you repeat this prayer:

“I am blessed in the city, blessed in the field, blessed coming in, and blessed going out, my laying down and my rising up. I am blessed in the basket and blessed in my bank accounts, investments, health, and relationships; they flourish. The blessings of the Lord overtake me in all areas of my life and I receive them.” (christianword.org)

Hugs to all. I truly appreciate everyone who has read my blog, who follow me on Twitter and Facebook, and those who subscribe to my daily words of inspiration…..Thank you for teaching me, for enlightening me, for being friends and for making me laugh. You are truly treasures and I am humbled to be in your spheres!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

2 Roadblocks to Success!!

I am real and I love people who are real. I empower people to succeed but I do so without fluff and I do so with integrity and honesty. If I am unable to feel what you feel or at least want to do my best for you then I am not being an effective coach. As a result, my thoughts and methods may not be popular opinion. With that said, I truly believe that the following 2 roadblocks can deter you as you start the journey to a purposeful life.

1. Surrounding yourself with “Yes” people

Recently, I watched an episode of the show “I Want to Work for Diddy 2”…This show features several contestants who go through several challenges to become P.Diddy’s assistant. As a challenge they had to each tell him whether they like his choice of wardrobe for a particular event. His big issue was that he did not want “yes” people. These are people who say what they think you want to hear and not what you should hear. They all became “yes” people and told him that wearing a tie-dyed shirt was perfect for the event. After the challenge, he questioned why they would let him leave the house in that attire for the event. Such actions could cripple his reputation. That resonated with me because as we begin the process in starting a business or starting a new venture or even walking into purpose and passion, we must be able to have a thick enough skin to listen to critiques and yet a wisdom to know which critiques are worthless and which are not. I have learned that we must surround ourselves with people who are positive in our lives but also who can critique in love. They love us or care about our future enough to tell us the truth regardless if it is agreeing with what we think or not. They have our best interests at heart and are willing to help us grow and develop.

2. Relying on people who always say what is wrong without giving any solutions

There are people who not only point out a problem but they also offer a solution. It is sad to see when people always want to point out what is wrong but can never offer any solutions to fix the issues….I remember my years serving in the military and my commanders were always telling us that they did not want us to bring them problems unless we had solutions to these problems. As you move from existing in this life to living a purposeful and fulfilled life remember to always surround yourself with people who make it a standard that any problems brought to you have at least one solution. This is a proactive approach to offering help.

As always, remember that what you reap is what you sow. What you want for yourself is what you should be dishing out as well.

Please share your thoughts on this matter?

Why Tiger Woods and You will rise above failure and bad decisions!

Okay, so the hot topic in the media recently has been Tiger Woods and the affairs that he has had with not one but with several women. I know this may be a controversial topic but you will be encouraged in the end. I believe that as a human race we have idolized other human beings to the point where we can no longer see the humanity in them. The reason I was not outraged by the Tiger Woods story is that I have never placed him or any other celebrity on a pedestal regardless of their impact. I admired and still admire his love for the sport, talents, his tenacity, his champion attitude that he carries with him. I do not condone his actions but I am not the first to cast a stone. I have made many choices in my life which were harmful to myself and my family but were never known because I am not a public figure. The question then arises, “Should his wife stay or leave?” I believe that is a decision that they will both have to make together privately without help from the media, but I will not judge them for either decision. I will pray for them both and learn from their mistakes.

Seeing this story splashed all over the news has reminded me of the recent fall and rise of Martha Stewart, Kobe Bryant, Former President Clinton and many other celebrities. They have made comebacks in the media spotlight. If they can do it, I believe that it will be the same for Tiger Woods. But more importantly, you, who are not in the media spotlight that intensely, can recover from failed business ideas, marketing principles or decisions.

4 Tidbits about Failure

Tidbit #1

Your best days are always ahead of you. The situation might seem unbearable now but in a few years you would look back on these challenges with a grateful heart, knowing that in the midst of adversity you became a better, stronger, wiser person.

Tidbit #2

Most often, you come back stronger, more focused and with new strategies and ideas that would never had happened if you had not had serious setbacks.

Tidbit #3

During the tough seasons you learn what you are made of and it is typically more than what you think. “Adversity causes some men to break and others to break records”–William Arthur Ward
Tidbit #4

Learn from your failures. Let your failures be your impetus for success. Treat your failures as an educational tool. Even though you have failed, you are not a failure; you have just been given an opportunity for great wisdom. ”Good people are good because they have come to wisdom thru failure. We get very little wisdom from success”–Wm Saroyan

This too shall pass!!!!

Be encouraged and please let me know what you think!

Precious and The Blind Side--Sign of the Times!

Do you know what I have seen a lot of lately?

Movies with inspirational and encouraging undertones have become a hit in the box office recently. From Twitter to Facebook to coffeehouses to churches, people are talking about movies such as Precious and The Blind Side. Not only are these movies wonderfully made, but they serve to encourage and inspire. This is exactly what we need in this day and age—encouragement, inspiration and lots of love. In addition, we need to have a huge amount of gratitude for the things that we do have. With the loss of jobs and economical hardships, people are giving up hope and sometimes giving up their life or taking the lives of others. Let’s have an attitude of gratitude and let’s lend a helping hand to at least one person. Many people have given up hope but we can become a beacon of hope into their lives. You never know what a kind word, a helping hand, a visionary insight can do to affect the life of someone else.

Recently, I volunteered with my church in giving out 1000+ turkeys and food boxes to families in need for the Thanksgiving season. The joy that I had in helping someone else was increased by the smiles on the faces of the children and parents that were served that day. My role was as a greeter. Simple you may say but it was profound. We cheered on the families and treated them like royalty as soon as they entered the area. I truly believe that many of these families had been beaten down by life and just to have people treat them like kings and queens were a great boost to their self-esteem. You never know the effect that you can have on a person.

Remember, the seeds that you sow into someone may never be known but it will always reciprocate.

What are some things that you have done for others to encourage, inspire, bring hope?

Control debt this season...7 Suggestions!!!!

As we enter this season of giving and celebrating, I started thinking about everyone who hit the malls and retail stores yesterday, most who will dig a financial hole for themselves so that they can make themselves and someone else happy. I have a goal of helping masses of people achieve their dreams and it is just more difficult with debt. Debt free 2010 is a goal for myself and for my clients. I have 7 suggestions that will still allow you to make someone and yourself happy, but not give you stress come January 2010.

Suggestion #1 Set a budget and stick with it

This allows us to become good stewards of our money. Having that budget gives us more discriminatory power in our purchasing. The budget of course should not become so large that it haunts us in February 2010. Remember, 2010 is our year and we cannot let the things that we do in November, December of 2009 impact the year that we will have in 2010.

Suggestion #2 Sleep on a purchase before you buy

Many times we buy things on impulse and then never use them or the people we give them to end up never using them. Just because the sale is good does not mean that we must buy it. Do not buy on impulse. I have learned that if I decide to think about a purchase overnight then typically the next day I do not want it or I see something else that interests me more.

Suggestion #3 Leave the plastic at home, unless it is a debit card attached to the bank account.

Shopping on credit causes many to dismiss their budget and entertain impulse shopping. We do not want to become slaves to the credit industry. Proverbs 22:7(NLT) Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender.

Suggestion #4 Learn the difference between a need and a want

In my opinion a need is the basics of shelter (home, electricity, water etc), food, clothing, transportation (including gas). If you have the basics of that, then everything else is a want and you can live without it.

Suggestion #5 Sit down this season and get the plan together for getting out of debt so that you could be free to start investing extra money that you have.
February 2010 should not become a time of nausea because of the purchases made in November/December 2009. Proverbs 21:20(NLT) The wise have wealth and luxury, but fools spend whatever they get.

Suggestion #6 Find alternatives to individualized gift giving

Alternative 1: Participating in the Secret Santa, Yankee Swap or White Elephant Gift exchange games is a fun and economical way to celebrate the people who we love. It is great with friends, family members and co-workers and can become a festive event that not only includes the giving of gifts, but music, food (potluck) and laughs. There are lots of information available on the web and you can also check out: http://www.secretsanta.com/

Alternative 2: Family members can plan as to who will buy a gift for which family member. This way, each person only buys one gift and everyone is happy.

Alternative 3: Sending out personalized gift cards are another economical way to give this season. The cost includes stamps for mailing and the cards themselves. The personalized messages are priceless.

Alternative 4: Making a gift from the heart is also a great way to give this season. Handmade baskets, ceramics, blankets, jewellery etc are awesome gifts, especially if the person making them is talented.

Suggestion #7 Spend some time feeding and clothing the hungry and the homeless.

This act of kindness will make you so satisfied and happy that it will change your view on the things that are important to you.

These are simple suggestions for us this season but they are so profound in the effect that they will have on us as we head into 2010. Debt free 2010 is my goal? Is it yours?

What are some other suggestions that you can think of to make sure that 2010 does not cause nausea and headaches for us all?

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!

Today as we celebrate Thanksgiving, I am reminded of so many things to be thankful for. My health because so many people who I know have not been able to live to see this day. My mind because so many people are in mental institutions right now or are in prisons right now as a result of "losing their minds". My family because so many people are still searching for the love of a family. My relationship with God because without Him, I would never have survived the past 2 years of turbulence in my life. I am so thankful and so very grateful today for the little things. The things that are priceless, the things that seem miniscule. I am thankful. The challenges that I have had to face have allowed me to be even more thankful this Thanksgiving. And, as the first American Thanksgiving was celebrated in 1621 to give thanks for a harvest gathered after a tough winter, I am celebrating a huge harvest that is on its way in 2010. This poem below really demonstrates how I am feeling right now. A friend sent it to me and I am sharing with you today.....Happy Thanksgiving to All Today!!!!!

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don't know something,
for it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations,
because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge,
because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you're tired and weary,
because it means you've made a difference.

It's easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also thankful for the setbacks.
Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,
and they can become your blessings.

Veteran's Day Note and Prayer

It is Nov 11, 2009, a day that we have set aside to celebrate and thank our military families for their service and sacrifice. A day typically accentuated with discounts for military members, parades, cemetery visits and such. Being a veteran myself, I love to see the different ways in which our nation honors its own. Today though, I pray that we all set aside a minute or two to especially pray for those families who have lost loved ones and for those who served closely with those loved ones. Recently, I spoke with three of my friends who both had to endure the loss of their fellow soldiers whom they served very closely with. The emotions that can come with losing not one, not two but several comrades at the same time can be quite tough to deal with. The lasting effects of this kind of emotion can be unhealthy. Additionally, as we write letters and cards to the service men and women overseas, let us not forget about the ones that we have here at home that are spending time at the various Veteran hospitals for injuries sustained in war and those not in our hospitals, but who have sustained emotional injury. As military men and women, we all know that when we sign the dotted lines, we are signing up for war. We know it and we agree to it. Some of us may not experience it and some may. The bottom line is that we all have a choice as to whether we would like to join the military family, knowing that we may possibly go to war. So, instead of arguing about whether military members need to be in a war, let us unite on this Veteran’s Day and pray:

“Dear Heavenly Father, our troops have been sent into war, as peacekeepers and conquers. We petition You, Lord, according to Psalm 91, for the safety of our military personnel. We ask You Lord to comfort them in the midst of this turmoil and to show them that they are not forgotten by America or by You, Lord. This is no small task that our armed forces will walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the devil and all his angels. We look beyond human instruments of conflict and rebuke, in Jesus Name, all the forces and authorities and rulers of darkness and powers in the spiritual realm (Colossians 2:15). As children of the Most High God we enforce the triumphant victory of our Lord Jesus Christ. We know Lord that all power and authority both in heaven and earth belong to You. We petition heaven to turn our troops into a real peacekeeping force by pouring out the glory of God through our men and women in that part of the world. Let them take everything the Master has set out for them, well-made weapons of the best materials. (Ephesians 6:12) Use them as instruments of righteousness to defeat the plans of the devil. Lord, we plead the power of the blood of Jesus, asking You to manifest Your power and glory. We entreat You on behalf of the citizens in these countries on both sides of the conflict. They all have experienced pain and heartache; they are victims of the devil’s strategies to steal, kill and destroy John 10:10). We pray that they will come to know Jesus Who came to give us life and life more abundantly. We stand in the gap for the people of the war-torn, devil-overrun land. We expect an overflowing of Your goodness and glory in the lives of those for whom we are praying (Ezekiel 22:30). May they call upon Your name and be saved. Heavenly Father, provide for and protect the families of our armed forces. Preserve marriages; cause the hearts of the parents to turn toward their children and the hearts of the children to turn toward the fathers and mothers (Malachi 4:6). We plead the blood of Jesus over our troops and their families. Provide a support system to under gird, uplift and edify those who have been left to raise children by themselves. Jesus has been made unto these parents wisdom, righteousness and sanctification. Through Your Holy Spirit, comfort the lonely and strengthen the weary. You Lord, make known Your salvation; Your righteousness You openly show in the sight of the nations. (Psalm 98:2, Luke 2:30-31). Heavenly Father, we are looking forward to that day when the whole earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen” (prayer excerpt from www.christianword.org)

Fox News vs The White House

This is the new topic of conversation for the pundits recently. The White House has chosen Fox News as it’s target and wants to totally discredit it…..or something like that…..I mean really, why wage a war with the Media. There are healthcare issues, war issues, foreign policy issues but of course Fox has to be taught that it must like the White House/President, or else? I am not sure as to what is happening here but this is getting out of control. There are way too many other things to be dealing with than the newsmedia…..This is crazy!!!!

Success

“Success is not a destination, it’s a journey” Zig Ziglar

This is so very true. It really is not about the destination but about the journey. Success is birthed in the journey. Many successful men and women have a journey. I encourage you to journal the journey of success. This journey is what will speak to other people. This journey is what will engage an audience. This journey will be your foundation in success.

The non-value of cash value

Life insurance and investments should be separate and not bundled together. Pure investments such as mutual funds have potential for higher returns than cash value life insurance. Term Life insurance is the best option out there.

New Blog

I have a new blog as well on Wordpress.com...I will still update this blog as well so you can locate me according to your preference.....Love and Blessings

Are you real?

Who is the real you? The you when nobody is looking. The you when the focus is not on you, when the bright lights are not shining on you, when you are alone, when you are not around the people at church. This person, when you find him or her, study, learn, love him/her. Get comfortable with him/her even if the real you does not fit a typical mold. This person, once you really get to know him/her will allow a view into your passion and purpose and how you can use what you have within you to change the world. The complexities of life sometimes spins and changes us but the real you is still there....Find the real you and blossom in it.

Volleyball: Division 2 is just as good as Division 1

It blows my mind that Division I volleyball always seem to get more media attention, more TV schedule, more inspiration stories than Division II volleyball. In my eyes the only difference between the two is $$$$ I played Division II volleyball and we have great coaches, awesome stories, great rivalries, exceptional talent and we have kicked the crap out of some DI schools as well. Why is there a misconception that D1 schools are better? My answer is the attention that it receives. Focus needs to be placed on D2 programs. Many athletes in the D2 programs do not even get a chance to compete for post college opportunities because they were not D1. Maybe I am just venting because I know of great D2 stories and players that are never known. Maybe I am just wrong and the misconception is not there. What I do know is that having played in a D2 program, I had the best experience, coaching and talent. Maybe it was just the particular program but come one, please put a bit more emphasis on D2 volleyball. You can easily find the best D2 rivalries, the best D2 games that are upcoming and talk about them or show them. Take the time to learn about D2 players and I guarantee great stories. By the way, if you are wondering, I proudly played for the University of Tampa Spartans. Whewwwwwww. I feel better.

Baseball's Steroid List

The new buzz in baseball is that David Ortiz is now on the famous "Steroid List". My question to baseball is: Just make the list public so that we can deal with it, clean up the game and concentrate on the game. This private yet public list that pops into the news every month or so with a new big profile name is just ridiculous. Is it a private list or is it not? Was it done in a way that would not mess with the playability of the players or was it? And while we are on that topic, please establish an ending for this whole Bonds, Ramirez, A-Rod steroid issue. Soooo very confusing and unfinished in my eyes. Get closure and move on.

Tiger Woods misses the Cut

Oh my Gosh---Tiger Woods has missed the cut for the British Open.....This is the end of the world as we know it right? I was so surprised at the media attention that is given to Tiger Woods becaused he missed the cut. Hello, last time I checked he is human. He makes mistakes, he uses the bathroom like we do and he misses cuts. We have to keep things in perspective. Yes, I know that he rarely has missed a cut and yes I know that he is an icon in sports, but to analyze that fact for at least 10 minutes is ridiculous. To call it breaking news is even worse. Tiger is an athlete and a professional. He did not miss the cut for the open but He will win more opens, I guarantee. No need to panic people. No need to wonder how the open will be televised without him....I think the world still survived when he was injured recently......Please, keep things in perspective!!!

What are your thoughts???Tell me I am wrong or I am right, but please say why?

Phil Jackson: Part Time Coach!!

There seems to be brewing story regarding Phil Jackson of the Los Angeles Lakers. The rumor is that Phil is serious about being a part-time coach next season., most likely coaching at home and not the road games. Many are having a problem with this but here is my take:

Phil Jackson is 63 years old and has his 10th NBA title ahead of Red Auerback. He has earned his due and is a great coach. This is a slow way of transitioning out the NBA coaching role, in my opinion. This past season, he did not seem like he did much coaching from the bench. I saw images of Kobe in the huddle, calling plays. That is the sign of a good leader. One that can develop other leaders to carry out his vision. Phil Jackson is very good at that. He did not achieve his status by being a forceful micromanager. He knows his players and he has a unique ability to bring out the best in each of them. Of course, he really does not need all that money so him being a part-timer could be a selfish thing. He may want all the glory and not deal with the pressures of travel and the wear and tear of a full time coach. But, can you fault him for doing what he wants, being that he is the most title winning coach in NBA?
I think that him having a part-time role can be a good thing to the development of the replacement coach and the further development of the players. Phil embodies great leadership styles: Take a look at the following leadership quotes below and see if you can see Phil Jackson in either one or both.

Dwight Eisenhower---Leadership: The art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he/she wants to do it.

Tom Peters--Leaders do not create followers, they create more leaders.

Stallworth vs Vick

Donte Stallworth of the Cleveland Browns received started serving his 30 day sentence today for DUI manslaughter stemming from a March incident in which Stallworth killed a pedestrian while driving under the influence in Miami. He will also serve 2 years house arrest and 8 years probation in addition to providing an undisclosed sum of money to the family of the deceased. Michael Vick on the other hand served two years in prison for his part in the unethical treatment of dogs that were in his care---more specifically dogfighting. Now, don't get me wrong, I love animals. I have a cute little pitbull dog and I would never ever understand why people abuse animals, fight them or even allow them to live in sick conditions. But, when a life is involved, the penalty should be even steeper in my opinion. Now, I am a person of second chances, so I embrace the apologies of both Vick and Stallworth and I would give each of them a second chance after they serve their time. I just believe the standards are a bit off. 30 days and probation for killing a person and 2 years for dog fighting. Of course, Stallworth was more upright and cooperative with the law as opposed to Vick, who really conspired to lie and hide the truth from law enforcement. This ultimately may be the reason why Stallworth was able to pull out a pretty decent bargain in this case.
There was such an outrage in the Vick case but nothing really in the Stallworth case. Very strange indeed. I forgive each man but I am amazed that the penalties are so far off. The fact that Stallworth was forthcoming with the authorities is the only thing that makes sense to me as to why his penalty was so much less than Vicks. I know that both these gentlemen will learn from their mistakes and that they will be better people as a result. After all, the difference between many criminals and non-criminals is that they got caught.....

Thought for You!

The unexamined life is not worth living--Socrates

Always take the time to reflect on your life, the decisions you have made, the successes and the failures. This allows you to learn, to grow and to have a mental knowledge of your strengths and your weaknesses. It is always a good thing to reflect every now and then on the good, bad and the ugly......

Rays loss and Lakers-Magic Game 3

The Rays baseball team lost tonight in a close one. I am patiently waiting for us to win those clopse games like we did last year and for Pena and Upton to explode. I am not as comfortable as I used to be when the bullpen pitches or even the regular pitchers. Happy to see Longoria back and happy with those hitters who have just exploded (can u guess who?) Then I realized that the Lakers-Magic game is now a series. Clutch free throws made by the Magic and free throws missed by Kobe allowed this resilient team to win in a tight game in the 4th. The Magic won this game on the court and both teams played well. Orlando just executed clutch.I gotta give props to Kobe for fighting through even when there was no chance of them winning with 2 seconds left and Lewis shooting free throws. I expect him to come back Thursday with a vengeance and I expect as always that the Magic, fueled by the home crowd would come out confident.Even Howard has a playoff swagger to him. Should be good!!!
I must say that Kobe Bryant has been playing great in the Finals. He is focused and he is only selfish when he needs to be. He seems so much more mature than in previous years and that is good to see. He is also much more versatile than LeBron James which I blogged about earlier. He really needs to get rid of that scowl though. It is not becoming. As for the Orlando Magic, their inexperience showed Game 2 in overtime I think. I also would love to see Dwight Howard get some more of those muscle dunks that He is famous for. He is doing a fine job I think. What are your thoughts?

Yes, I am keeping up with Basketball, Baseball and all the sports that I can!!!Whoooooo

The Word of God

A great woman of God whom I believe that He reveals his secrets to, sent this to me. I encourage you to get serious about the Word of God! She loves God and is concerned about the condition of the body of Christ and I agree.

"I am grieved by the condition of the Body of Christ today! People don't know the WORD. They take what they hear without checking the scriptures for themselves and fall prey to the enemies lies! I am a wretched sinner saved by grace who needs HIM and the whole counsel of His word! I do not know many people that are serious about God's Word and kingdom agenda."

I so agree with my friend. We have to get to the point where we hear God for ourselves. Other people are there to confirm what God has already spoken to us and to help guide us. We must become HOLY people…yes HOLY people that God intended for us to be. We must learn to adjust our lives to the Word—the entire Word, not just part of it. We must stop manipulating the word to suit our needs. The enemy is deceptive, yet we must be aware of his tactics. We have been playing around with God’s Word for too long. We have been compromising for too long not only in our churches but in the political arena as well. It is time that the church be the church and live according to the unadulterated TRUTH….God’s WORD, all of it. And, we must not become so easily offended when a prophet of God (man or woman) speaks a word (good or bad) that we know is the truth.
This is not a word to dishearten you or offend you. It is sent to encourage you. We cannot relax and play around with the enemy. The violent taketh by force. We must KNOW the word so that we can use it effectively. We must study it, let it saturate our lives; let Him speak to us so that we can be more effective and so that we can have the POWER that we need in these last days.

Why do people think that Lebron is better than Kobe?He is not and I am not even a big Kobe fan. Lebron is not better than Kobe at this point....It is a media spike and it is because LeBron has more charisma in my opinion. What do you think?

Sunday, May 17, 2009

Well, when I thought, botched lineup for the Tampa Bay Rays game, I thought oh no, we are in trouble. We still won the game with Longoria benched and the pitcher getting a base hit. Yeah, that is one thing about the Rays, they never cease to amaze me. There is no predictability about them and sometimes when they do crazy stuff, they end up being the top dawgs......Now, let us get some wins in a row.....Can we say at least 6 in a row? You can do it boys. I got all the confidence in you.....Go Rays. And, yeah, those Lakers trounced the Rockets---I did not expect such a beatdown. Was anyone surprised at the Celtics loss? Not me. Surprising, I am not a big fan of Lebron or the Cavs so I will be in favor of the Magic......Whew!!!!I love sports.

A few of my peeves!

Why are people so very easily offended? Why do adults acts so immature sometimes? Why can people be so hyprocrital?----they want one set of rules for themselves and another for you to live by. I am very passionate about this. I also hate that people in this world have such a hard time being unified. I am the type of person that not only lets things roll off my back, but I do not hold a grudge, I do not see people and their positions as anything but a blessing from God(so I try not to judge them) and I work to be an encourager. We really need to get past the silly, middle school type stuff and grow up and act like the adults that God made us to be....Put aside all the junk and work together. We try to build businesses, move up the ladder and all that stuff and yet we are missing the foundational stuff....Hmmmmmmm. We have got to wise up y'all.

Test yourself before someone else does!

Sometimes we think that we have the victory over something or in a certain area of our lives and then something happens that we realize that we still need the grace and mercy of God and that we still have some challenges in that particular area. Sometimes, we need to take an inventory of our lives to figure out where our challenges are, what areas we have difficulties in and tackle those areas before we are ever placed in situations that reveal them. If you have an issue with alcoholism for example, you may have been avoiding the bars, company parties or innocent events just so that you show people that you are saved and have the victory over this issue. Yet, this is avoidance. Test yourself by going to that company party where alcohol is everywhere and see if you have the victory. Try walking right next to that bar and see who wins. Of course, accountability with someone is vital to ensure that you are being protected in all that you do. This, in my opinion will determine if you really have the victory. Paul said it best:

2 Corinthians 13:5:(Message) 5 Test yourselves to make sure you are solid in the faith. Don't drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourselves regular checkups. You need firsthand evidence, not mere hearsay, that Jesus Christ is in you. Test it out. If you fail the test, do something about it.

It is an 8 day holiday marked by the eating of unleavened bread (matzah) and the celebration of a Seder meal (Seder includes eating slavery symbols such as bitter herbs and recounting the ten plagues)....The name is derived when God passed over the homes which had the Blood of the Lamb on the door posts. No work permitted on April 20-21, 26-27 because these are holy convocation days. Work is permitted only on April 22-25 with certain restrictions.( Exodus, Leviticus 23:4-8, Numbers 28:16-25, Matthew 26:17-30, Luke 22:7-20)
April 9 to 16

Feast of Unleavened Bread (Jewish)
Matzot as this celebration is called refers to the Lord's command to not eat leaven----foods that contain yeast or any other rising products. Remove leaven from our diet and houses for 7 days. It represents how the Lord brought the Israelites out of Egypt in a hurry. Additionally, leaven represents sin, so this is why celebrations today involve eating no leaven and cleansing the house of all leaven and leaven products (Exodus, Leviticus 23:4-8, Numbers 28: 17-25, Deuteronomy 16:1-8, 1 Corinthians 5:6-8, 1 Corinthians 13

It falls in the spring of the year on the first day after the first Sabbath of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. On 1st day of Passover, the sheaf of grain was bundled in the field, on 1st day of unleavened bread, the sheaf was cut and prepared and the third day the priest waved the sheaf before the Lord. Jewish people rarely celebrate this holiday but has great significance as to the day of Jesus' resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:20-23, Leviticus 23:9-14, Numbers 28:26-31, Romans 8:18-29

Fifty days after Yom Habikkurim, the children of Israel arrived at Mount Sinai and received God's Teaching and Instruction--the Torah…To commemorate, this time, we count up Seven Sabbaths, plus one day day by day starting with Yom Habikkurim. This period of 50 days is one of great reflection, anticipating the time of our great restoration. I am always on the edge for this TV show

Well, well, well......24 does it for me everytime. This show is packed with surprise, intrigue, twists and turns. I am literally glued to the television during this show. I usually have volleyball pickup games on Monday evenings and I either miss it or leave early so that I can get to 24. I will not DVR it, I will not tape it. I must see it then and there......I love Jack and Cloe....I am so sad to see Bill go and please do not kill Tony!!!I talk to the TV, I yell at the TV during 24....Am I the only one who is 24floored....Whew!!!!!

Kids having kids!/Social Issues!

Is there not something seriously wrong with our young children having kids. Most of them are unable to take care of these kids and many with dads that are in prisons. My tax dollars are having to be used to help these children. Also, many kids and their parents are getting "crazy" checks in this economy because they are diagnosed with mental problems. They have access to free medical and dental and food stamps and all that and I am trying to work hard only to have my insurance not pay hardly anything for dental work. Why do I have to pay for insurance that does not return that much and people who are unemployed are getting checks and free food and dental. I believe that in some instances, there is a need but in some, there is abuse of the system. Lord, I pray for those with legitimate needs that require aid but I pray Lord that you give us discernement in administering these social programs so that the deserving are being helped and those that are abusing the system are found out. I pray for America and the economic crisis that we are facing.

God is sooooooo good!

Meditate on the following scripture today because regardless of what you may think, God is still in control. He is still on the throne and He is still wanting more of our time, talent, and treasures.
Psalms 23 is always read but stop and meditate on each verse and let it settle in your spirit. Each verse is powerful!

1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

What an awesome God we serve. He has placed you here on earth for a plan and a purpose and all you have to do is walk it out by faith, trust, believe and obey!!!!!

In Love!

God use me as your vessel

In Exodus Chapter 7:3 until the children of Israel left Egypt, God kept hardening the heart of Pharaoh from letting them go. Each time God used Moses and Aaron to send a plague, Pharaoh would agree to let them go, but then God would harden his heart so that he changed his mind and refused to let them go. God even told Moses that that was what He would do with Pharaoh. Interestingingly, in Exodus Chapter 10:1-2, God revealed why He had done this. It reads, "The Lord said to Moses, Go to Pharaoh, for I have made his heart hard, and his servants' hearts, that I might show these My signs (of divine power) before him, And that you may recount in the ears of your son and of your grandson what I have done in derision of the Egyptians and what things I have (repeatedly) done here--My signs (of divine power) done among them--that you may recognize and know that I am the Lord."

Many times God will allow certain circumstances in our lives so that He can come in and show His awesome power. We are always quick to say, "God use me as your vessel"--but we think about that as in "God use me to spread your word, or use me to teach, preach, prophecy, lay hands on the sick etc", however, God allowing negative circumstances in our lives is using us as a vessel. A vessel to show of his restorative power. A vessel to show that He is a God of His word. A vessel to show that He is El Shaddai. A vessel to show that He is a provider (Jehovah Jireh). A vessel to show that He can take the messed up things and produce diamonds. A vessel to show that He can take trash (the trash that is in us and our lives) and make treasure out of it. That is why in each circumstance in our lives and each trial, we are to keep praising God and seek His peace and seek His guidance.

I pray that this blesses you!!!!

Darkness to Light

Genesis Chapter 1 says that "In the beginning God (prepared, formed, fashioned, and) created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and an empty waste, and darkness was upon the face of the very great deep. The Spirit of God was moving (hovering, brooding) over the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light; and there was light.

Just as in Genesis, God has created you. And, just as in Genesis, you are surrounded by darkness and everything is an empty face. But, thank God that the Spirit of God is moving about and sees your heaviness and darkness. Thank God that His Spirit hovers around. And when God says, "Let there be light" in your life, every dark, empty, ugly thing will spring forth as the earth did in life and beautiness!!!!

Father, I thank you for my brothers and my sisters reading this. May they hold on tight to you in their dark season so that when you speak life, they immediately receive it in the name of Jesus!!!!

In Love

Superbowl--Steelers and Cardinals--Fair Win?

Well, as a huge sports fan, I watched the Superbowl last night. As opposed to most years, I did not have a favorite. I liked both teams and therefore, it was a stress free, but great game for me. Pittsburg made alot of key players when needed but I think the Cardinals played well too. Many are reporting that the referees made calls in favor of the Steelers, but what I saw was not that. They made calls that were solid and pretty accurate. The only call that was questionable was the "roughing the passer" call made on a hit on Big Ben after he threw the ball. The call was very close but I do not think it would have changed the outcome either way. Also note that the Cardinals were very successful in their challenges. It was a fair yet awesome game. The Cardinals did not lose this football game. They just ran out of time to counter the counter that the Steelers had.

I also believe that the Cardinals could have used Fitzgerald more. I know he was covered pretty well by the defense but the way in which he grabs the ball out of the air and the way in which he moves with the ball, they probably would have gotten away with throwing the ball to Fitzgerald in the middle of the Steeler defense instead of waiting until the 4th.

Also, where were the Cardinal fans? The Steeler fans came out in droves!

By the way, Big Ben did not seen nervous this time around at all!!!!

Go Superbowl!!!!!Fun to watch!!!!
